GuardianPL

The primary purpose of the GuardianPL is to assist in searching for and locating individuals with memory challenges. Many in this community wear wristband beacons provided by ProjectLifesaver.org. Sheriff's departments and other search and rescue (SAR) agencies are often tasked with finding these individuals when they go missing. The GuardianPL is an essential tool for the SAR community to locate these individuals effectively.

Additionally, by packaging the 121.5 MHz and 406 MHz beacon location tools with the PLI frequency, this tool provides both a comprehensive tool for SAR activities while also drastically decreasing the cost of acquiring the tools necessary to support normal SAR activities.

The GuardianPL has the following main functionalities:

  • Reads Project Lifesaver frequencies in the 216 MHz to 218 MHz spectrum.
  • Reads the 121.5 MHz frequency and the 121.775 MHz test frequency.
  • Accuracy within 5 degrees.
  • Reads the 406 MHz frequency.

The GuardianPL App uses telemetry to determine and display both the searcher's and target's GPS locations (latitude and longitude), as well as providing driving instructions between them.

Additionally, the GuardianPL App provides the following functionalities:

  • A comprehensive logging system for search review and sharing of location coordinates during active searches.
  • The ability to change the units of distance used between the Imperial and Metric systems,.
  • The ability to change the coordiant system used to display GPS coordinates.

We provide expert training on the use of the GuardianPL, which is designed for first responders who need a versatile tool for SAR missions. By enabling searches across three separate frequencies (121.5 MHz, 406 MHz, and Project Lifesaver frequencies), the GuardianPL eliminates the need for multiple tools, reducing costs while enhancing search efficiency.

For locating individuals with memory challenges, the GuardianPL allows users to enter any valid Project Lifesaver frequency in the 216 MHz to 218 MHz range.

For ELTs (Emergency Locator Transmitters) and PLBs (Personal Locator Beacons), we have streamlined the search process by integrating the ability to detect both the 406 MHz and 121.5 MHz frequencies. This feature allows searchers to locate the beacon's general vicinity using the 406 MHz signal and then switch to the 121.5 MHz frequency to pinpoint the exact location.

By combining these three frequencies into a single device, the GuardianPL reduces costs for SAR units while enabling teams to detect a variety of beacons, including:

  • 216 MHz to 218 MHz Project Lifesaver beacon watches
  • 121.5 MHz only
  • 406 MHz only
  • Beacons that transmit both 121.5 MHz and 406 MHz frequencies

We field-test each product before shipping.
